"Chemical compounds found in foods and beverages such as green tea, muscadine grapes, and dark chocolate can bind to a specific enzyme or protease in the SARS-CoV-2 virus and block its function," according to a new study conducted by plant biologists at North Carolina State University.

"One of the key focuses of our laboratory is to identify nutraceuticals in foods or medicinal plants that can either inhibit the attachment of a virus to human cells or block its replication within human cells," explains De-Yu Xie, Professor of Plant and Microbial Biology at NC State.
