Summer is Coming—Time to Get in Shape!
Under the title “Adele’s Recipe: Slim with Sirtfood,” the Healthy & Fit supplement (Issue 23/2020) of the Austrian newspaper Österreich published an article about weight loss. According to reports, pop icon Adele supposedly lost over 40 (!) kilograms with this diet.
The inventors of this diet claim: “If we consume enough sirtuins, specifically resveratrol (which belongs to the polyphenols), through our diet, we support fat metabolism and slow down cellular activity, which in turn delays the aging process.”
To support this, they provide a shopping list of top Sirtfoods. And—believe it or not—red wine is at the very top, followed by the usual suspects like chili, turmeric, olive oil, celery, and others.
This is the first time I have ever seen red wine in a dietary recommendation. However, readers of our newsletter know better.
Not all red wines are the same. Only a laboratory analysis provides certainty about the amount of health-promoting compounds in a wine.
W&G Wine & Health certifies wines after testing them, awarding 1, 2, or 3 points based on their polyphenol and flavonoid content.
For wines that receive this distinction, one to two glasses of 125 ml per day are sufficient to achieve a positive effect.
Losing weight with moderate red wine consumption?!
That is something new and very exciting!
