General Terms and Conditions (GTC)

For the submission of wines for analysis and certification according to the principles of Wein und Gesundheit (W&G) and for the use of the W&G quality seal.

The task of W&G is:

  • To determine the content of polyphenols, flavonoids and other health-promoting compounds in wine by means of a state-accredited analysis.
  • To award wines a quality seal according to the content of these compounds.

Winemakers, wineries, wine merchants and private individuals can submit wines for analysis and certification according to the W&G criteria:

  • Submission by means of the completed form at wein-gesund.at/einreichung.
  • After submission, you will receive a confirmation and an invoice for € 190 per sample.
  • Together with the payment, please send 6 bottles in a six-bottle carton per sample to:
    ÖWI Handels-GmbH, Josef-Hafner-Straße 4, A-2100 Korneuburg — keyword: W&G
  • You will be informed in writing of the result of the analysis and evaluation.
  • The W&G quality seal is awarded in three levels. Depending on the content of polyphenols, flavonoids and other health-promoting compounds, wines are awarded 1 point, 2 points or 3 points.
  • You can obtain the corresponding self-adhesive W&G quality seal in the quantity stated in the submission.
  • The use of the W&G quality seal for wines that have not undergone the W&G analysis is not permitted.
  • Submitted and awarded wines can be subjected to a sensory test by a professional tasting panel led by DS Prof. Dr Walter Kutscher. You will receive the evaluation according to the 100-point system and a description of the wine. A one-time fee of € 50 per sample applies for organisation, tasting and report.
  • Wines bearing the W&G quality seal are published on wein-gesund.at. On the W&G website the listed wines are linked to your website — interested visitors reach your website with one click and can obtain the awarded and other wines directly from you.
  • In the course of its communication, W&G will name and depict awarded wines and refer to the website wein-gesund.at.
